Bio –  Dr. Donté Flanagan, DNP, CRNA

Dr. Flanagan obtained his Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Emory University. He graduated with a Master of Science in Nurse Anesthesia at Samford University, and a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from Columbia University. He is a well credentialed nurse in his field of expertise and is the founder of Bigger Dreams, Better Tomorrows Foundation.

Dr. Flanagan has always had a lot of heart. He was raised by a very supportive family that instilled a strong work ethnic in him starting at an early age. Having such an amazing support system, he had no doubt that he could be whatever he wanted to be when he grew up, although he was uncertain of exactly what that would be.

He always seen education and entrepreneurship as a gateway to achieving everything he’d ever imagined. Contrary to the gender norms, he started his medical career in the nursing arena. By choosing the road less travelled, it opened up opportunities and experiences for him to gain financial independence all while making a difference in people’s lives on a daily basis.

Dr. Flanagan is driven by the inspiration he can give to students, especially Black men with lack of resources, who may need additional encouragement and exposure to the specialty resources that exist beyond the bedside of nursing. He is motivated by the opportunity for younger generations to step in to relieve and support the growing needs of patients. Everything that he do is for the advocacy and equity of people of color and of those that are underrepresented.

He hopes to share to share his story and knowledge so that beyond the career success, people begin to build habits that will lead to generational wealth for many decades to come. Dr. Flanagan believes that knowledge is power, and the actions from that knowledge is forever lasting.
